OpenLife Nigeria reports that Abubakar Yakubu, the newly elected President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), who narrowly defeated Rita Daniels by 116 votes to 113, with three votes declared invalid, has reportedly been involved in a fatal auto crash in Surulere, Lagos.
According to preliminary information, the incident resulted in the death of an individual.
Unconfirmed information stated that Yakubu has been taken into police custody at the Barracks Police Station in the Surulere area of Lagos, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident continue.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement detailing the cause of the crash or the outcome of ongoing inquiries.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria is an umbrella union that regulates and represents the affairs of film actors in Nigeria and abroad. The Guild was officially registered in 1998.
