A Vote For Tinubu Is A Vote For Development—Tunde Moshood

A Vote For Tinubu Is A Vote For Development

OpenLife Nigeria reproduces an overview of the February 25 presidential election by Tunde Moshood, a veteran in media enterprise

So like I was saying, (please read from part 1-Before You Cast That Vote). Let’s put sentiment aside and lay the facts on the table. Right now, if we have to go by the social media assessment, one might be hoodwinked to believe that the election has been had and won by whom a fraction of the youths think. Don’t mix it up, elections are not won on social media but purely on political structures.

In anyway, let’s look at our candidates and juxtapose their qualifications for the merits and demerits of the Oval office.

If we have to look at the antecedents of the PDP flagbearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar whose two-term as a Vice President bear nothing but a monumental indictment in a book-My Watch, written, published and widely circulated by his direct boss, former President Obasanjo who took him to the cleaner by saying, “The Money Atiku Stole Is Enough To Feed 300m People For 400yrs”. A right thinking person who knows the value of reputation would have sought a legal redress to clear his name on this damning allegation. With that monumental indictment in the Obasanjo book, somebody like Atiku does not have what it takes to run this country. We already know what will happen should he be given such a chance. Delicate.

This is the same man who, out of cowardice deleted his earlier views on the barbaric murder of an innocent school girl who was lynched for a baseless religious comment. You would recall that the PDP Presidential aspirant was threatened by some religious extremists who promised to make him lose more than 2m votes from the North after he tweeted to condemn the barbaric killing of Deborah Samuel, the innocent school girl who was alleged to have blasphemed Prophet Muhammad (ASW). There’s no amount of explanation that can make up for such a shamefully heartless decision of having to delete such a tweet in such a shocking moment. What it means is that human lives mean nothing to the PDP Presidential aspirant.

The most ironic of the situation is the laughable cognomen of him being referred to as a “UNIFIER”- someone who, out of sheer selfishness and power-desperado couldn’t put his house in order by simply allowing decorum on the sensitive issues of zoning and party chairmanship, a critical issue that eventually pitched the G-5 governors against his party.

There’s no doubting the fact that governor Wike might be the biblical Joshua who matched his troops around the city, blowing rams’ horns. And on the seventh day, the tumult of their shouting and the rams’ horns caused the Jericho wall to collapse. Joshua 5:13-6:27. Just like it will this Saturday.

The situation at hand is more than being sentimental, the nation does not need another ‘Perceived MESSIAH’ right now. Historically, our dear nation has never been favoured from Perceived Messiahs; right from the time of that OUR man who had no shoes throughout his school days. All our Perceived Messiahs have done their best to the best of their knowledge and ability.

This is a time when we should choose merit over vendetta and elect a leader who has track records of assembling the best of brains without recourse to race, creed or colour. A de-tribalized cosmopolitan politician who assembled and appointed thoroughbred professionals of repute drawn from diverse tribes and race during his tenures as the head honcho of the State that’s left to be beaten in infrastructural developments and economic improvements.

Although I have read, heard and listened to people make mockery on the health of the APC flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. How can we forget in a hurry that no one has control over life but God. We were all living witnesses during the incumbent president’s health challenges. It was so bad that a sitting governor even placed a “wrap-around advert in Punch Newspaper celebrating the demise of President Muhammadu Buhari; today, he’s not just as fit as a fiddle, he has outlived many of his enemies. No one knows tomorrow.

Another absurd allegation was his involvement in drug dealings in the US. My simple analysis of that is that, if Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had been so powerful and important, as far back as then, to have been left off-the-hook, by the ‘almighty’ US authority, without serving a jail term, for an offence as CAPITALLY strong as drug peddling, then, that’s the person we need to revive this sinking ship because he’ll be able to use same power and might to turn the Nigerian economy around. Need I say more?

A vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a vote for competency, national unity and developments. This is the only man in the history of governance in Nigeria who had collabs of technocrats drawn, not just from diversely related fields to suit his cabinets but from all tribes across the nation.

Come Saturday, February 25th, vote for the APC flagbearer, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the only de-tribalized politician who can steer the nation’s ship to the next level.
