How Nigerian Army uprooted Boko Haram attack in Geidam town, Yobe State is a strong signal that insurgents no longer enjoy peace
OpenLife Nigeria reports that Boko Haram had invaded Geidam, one of the biggest towns in Yobe State on Wednesday.
According to reports, residents fled.
However, quick response from soldiers, supported by air bombardment uprooted the insurgents.
At the moment, the town has regained normalcy as the insurgents have been chased off by the Army.
Geidam town, about 180 kilometres from Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, is the town where the headquarter of the Geidam local government area is located.
According to findings, the insurgents were believed to have taken position around the town earlier before the
shooting.
Though source claim there were casualties, Yobe state Governor, Mai-Mala Buni has directed the State Emergency Management Agency to provide emergency supports to victims
Governor Buni who described the attack as most unfortunate expressed joy on how Nigerian Army quickly supreesed the evil motive, “The attack came at a time when there is a general improvement in peace and security across the state.
“The general improvement in security and support provided by the Army and government have given our people the opportunity to gradually resettle and reclaim their means of livelihood.”
