Members of Joint National Association of Persons Living with Disabilities, Ika South chapter, held intercessory prayer on behalf of the family of the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the Secretary to the State Government, Chiedu Ebie and the State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu.
According to the disabled persons, the prayer was necessitated by the heartbreaking news of the daughter of the governor and other personalities who tested positive for coronavirus pandemic.
The group led by its Chairman, Comrade John Paul, cried out to God in prayers for the quick recovery of the infected persons whom they described as good leaders, positing that they will come out from the pandemic strong and in good health as their sickness was not on to death.
The exercise was conducted by some clergymen, Pastor Emmanuel Silvernus, Prophet Amechi Bili and Prophet Joseph Igodo who separately declared God’s healing upon them.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the prayer, Paul explained that as persons with disabilities, they believed that God can heal every sickness.
He said, “We do not have anything to give to our amiable Governor, the SSG and the Commissioner for Information, than to offer our prayers on their behalf.”
“They deserve our prayers because they are good leaders that have shown us love and care, and God said, ‘If any good man, especially those that considers people living with disabilities, widows and vulnerable in the society, should fall on sick bed, He will raise him up so that he can continue his good work’. On this belief, we have declared that by His mercies, our affected leaders amongst other Covid 19 patients in Anioma, Delta State, Nigeria and the world at large, are healed,” he added.
Meanwhile, the chairman use the medium to encourage citizens to adhere to the NCDC and state government directives against the spread of the virus.
