The Ogun state Government has commiserated with the family of a foremost educationist, late Professor Akinola Ogunpola on his demise in the early hours in Abeokuta.
The late Ogunpola was a one time Commissioner for education in Ogun State during the Olabisi Onabanjo administration.
The deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele who led the state delegation to his residence, noted that the legacies of the deceased in the development of the education sector in the State still speaks volumes till date, adding that the late Professor lived for service to God and mankind.
“This is an occasion to celebrate a life well lived in the service for God and the people of Ogun State, we are proud to call him our own and for people who were not in Abeokuta when he was here, his legacy in repositioning the Education sector led to the naming of one of the model schools in the state after him”. She said
She prayed God to grant the soul of the deceased repose and the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Speaking on behalf of the family, son of the deceased ,who is also the consultant to Governor on new media, Mr Damilola Ogunpola thanked the government for identifying with them at this trying period.
In company of the Deputy Governor were the Chief of staff to the Governor, Alhaji Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, some state commissioners, Special Advisers, APC leaders in the state and the daughter of the first civilian Governor of the state, Mrs Adebukola Onabanjo.
