Segun Showunmi Is A Boot Licker
OpenLife News reports that Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has launched a blistering attack on Segun Showunmi, describing him as an unrepentant political turncoat whose latest outburst against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, exposes a disturbing pattern of political opportunism, ingratitude and desperate self-promotion.
Eze stated that Showunmi’s attempt to disparage Atiku with the expression “Emir complex” was a stupid and aimless exhibition of political desperation and high level ingratitude by a man who appears more interested in currying favour with the disastrous administration of All Progressives Congress (APC) led by President Bola Tinubu, than engaging in constructive national discourse.
Eze insisted that Showunmi’s recent vile statement represents a calculated attempt to ingratiate himself with Tinubu’s political camp by attacking his former political boss, whose experience, influence and contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development remain significant and unparalleled.
“Honestly, I must say with every sense of decency that Showunmi’s latest diatribe was a shameful spectacle of political opportunism.
“Showunmi only confirmed his public perception as a betrayer and selfish person. He has chosen the ignoble and unpatriotic path of pouring invectives on a man from whom he once benefited politically and professionally.
“Apparently, Showunmi’s mistaken belief is that reckless, unguided and profane insults against Atiku Abubakar will earn him a place at Tinubu’s undemocratic political enclave.
“Without mincing words, this is the height of political ingratitude and madness.
“It is a pathetic display of the insane mentality that places personal ambition and ego above principle, loyalty and national interest.
“Showunmi must come to terms with the fact that political relevance cannot be negotiated through abuses, nor can credibility and integrity be procured with public vituperation on a former boss like Atiku.
“Nigerians are becoming increasingly discerning, and no amount of political theatrics can disguise a desperate search for relevance, Eze posited.
Eze, an erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) emphasized that Showunmi’s attack on Atiku was not only misplaced but also intellectually hollow, and bereft of any logical reasoning.
He added that Atiku has earned the right to participate in national conversations without being subjected to unfounded personal ridicule aimed at scoring cheap political goals.
More so, Eze challenged Showunmi to explain why speaking out against poverty, hunger, insecurity and economic hardship and in general, bad governance, should attract political condemnation and insults particularly when millions of Nigerians are struggling to survive under the current cursed administration of Tinubu.
“It is both unpatriotic, wicked, dishonest and mark of irresponsibility to trivialise the untold hardship Nigerians are passing through while attempting to head in a goal from an offside position against those demanding accountability and good democratic governance.
“If Showunmi has anything meaningful to contribute to the national debate, let him address the devastating cost of living, the threatening spate of insecurity, the deepening poverty and the widespread economic woes confronting Nigerians.
“Showunmi, hear it now, rest and know peace. Nigeria as it is today, with everyone calling for Tinubu’s head does not need political praise-singers or professional mudslingers; or serial betrayers and shameless political gays; what Nigeria yearns for are courageous voices prepared to confront and speak truth to power.
According to the ADC Chieftain, “rather than resorting to personal attacks against the ADC Presidential candidate, Showunmi should channel his energy towards explaining how President Tinubu intends to rescue Nigerians from the hardship and uncertainty that have defined his administration.
Eze described Tinubu’s administration as a monumental disappointment to Nigerians, stressing that the President’s economic and security policies have failed to deliver the relief, prosperity and national stability Nigerians deserve.
He insisted that the 2027 general election presents Nigerians with an opportunity to hold the ruling party accountable for its performance and reject what he characterised as a failed political leadership.
“Tinubu’s administration has become a symbol of broken expectations and painful sacrifices imposed on ordinary Nigerians.
“A government that asks citizens to endure endless untold hardship must be prepared to answer difficult questions about its achievements, priorities and commitment to their welfare.
“The President’s political allies and dubious aides may continue to defend him, but propaganda cannot put food on the tables of hungry families, restore purchasing power to struggling households or guarantee the safety of citizens threatened by insecurity.
“Tinubu knows that the road to 2027 will be determined not by political manoeuvres or support from State governors, the recruitment of opportunistic voices or the circulation of propaganda, but by the judgment of Nigerians who have endured the consequences of his government’s policies, Eze said.
In the same vein, Eze defended the Vice Presidential candidate of ADC, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s right to speak about poverty and economic hardship.
He dismissed any suggestion that a politician’s previous participation in government should automatically disqualify him from commenting on the country’s present challenges.
According to Eze, public service experience should provide political leaders with a deeper understanding of governance and the responsibility to offer solutions when national policies fail to meet citizens’ expectations.
He therefore advised Showunmi to stop manufacturing needless controversies around opposition figures and instead concentrate on the enormous responsibility of defending the performance of a failed administration he supports.
“Showunmi is now Tinubu’s political attack dog whose only assignment is to bark at opposition leaders.
“Nigerians deserve arguments, not insults; solutions, not smear campaign; and responsible political engagement, not the theatrics of individuals like Showunmi desperate in need to remain relevant.
“If Showunmi is convinced that Tinubu’s government is performing well, let him present the evidence. Let him tell Nigerians what has improved in their lives and why millions continue to complain about the cost of food, transportation, electricity, education and other basic necessities.
“Political loyalty must never become an excuse for intellectual dishonesty, just as the pursuit of appointment must never become a justification for abandoning decency and responsible public discourse, Eze declared.
In conclusion, Eze urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, demand accountability from those in power and use their votes wisely in 2027 to Vote APC and Tinubu.
He maintained that the future of Nigeria must not be surrendered to political opportunists, personality-driven attacks or leaders who fail to address the urgent needs of the people.
“Showunmi should face the issues confronting Nigeria instead of desperately seeking relevance through attacks on Atiku Abubakar.
“History will not remember those who shouted the loudest in defence of power; it will remember those who stood with the people when the country needed courage, honesty and responsible leadership.
“Nigerians must rise above political deception, reject the politics of desperation and make their votes count in 2027.
“The country deserves better, and our people must never be made to suffer indefinitely for the comfort and ambitions of a privileged political class, Eze stated.
