OpenLife News reports that the Paramount Queenmother of Goaso and Otumfuo’s Betwahemaa, Nana Afia Serwaa I, has been commended for her dedication to skills training and entrepreneurship for young women.

The Principal of High Lady Beautician School in Goaso, Ms. Dorothy Bonsu, said the Queenmother has been at the forefront of encouraging young girls to acquire practical vocational skills to become economically independent.

According to Ms. Bonsu, Nana Afia Serwaa I has consistently advocated for self-reliance among young women, urging them to learn trades that will enable them to create their own opportunities rather than depend solely on government jobs.

“Nana Afia Serwaa I is devoted to supporting and assisting young girls to acquire skills so they will not always have to rely on the government before they can get something doing,” Ms. Bonsu stated.

She described the Queenmother as a mother figure who is always willing to offer guidance, encouragement and support.“I regard her as my mother because anytime I go to her to seek advice and support, she welcomes me.

“She always guides me in everything that I do,” she added.

Ms. Bonsu stressed that vocational skills training is key to helping young women earn a living, set up small businesses and support their families, and called for more investment in such programmes in the Ahafo Region.

She noted that sustained support for entrepreneurship and vocational training would empower more young women with the confidence and capacity to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to community development.
