Aki’s Wife Laments Over POS Fraud Experience

OpenLife reports that Stephanie Promise, the wife of Nollywood actor Chinedu “Aki” Ikedieze, has shared a troubling experience involving a fraudulent POS transaction that cost her millions of Naira.

According to Stephanie, she attempted to withdraw money using a Point of Sale device operated by a woman on the Island.

Instead of receiving the amount she requested, the POS allegedly debited her account ten times the intended sum. After the transaction, the woman disappeared, making it impossible to recover the money.

Stephanie then approached First Bank, hoping for assistance, but was told that nothing could be done.

The bank explained that the POS device does not have an account number that could be traced, leaving the loss irrecoverable.

“She took my money,” Stephanie lamented, expressing her frustration over the incident. She also warned others to exercise caution when using POS services from unfamiliar operators, highlighting how quickly such transactions can lead to major financial losses.

This incident sheds light on the vulnerabilities in electronic payment systems and the urgent need for better traceability and consumer protection.

Stephanie’s experience serves as a stark reminder that even routine financial transactions can carry serious risks if proper precautions are not taken.
