“A Man Must Provide” — Ibrahim Chatta Shares His Marriage Beliefs
OpenLife reports that Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has spoken candidly about his views on responsibility within marriage, emphasizing the role he believes men should play in the home.
Reflecting on family structure and partnership, the actor stated;
“One of men’s responsibilities in this life is to take care of women. When you take care of your woman, you prosper.”
While acknowledging the changing dynamics in modern relationships, Chatta made it clear that he does not oppose equality or a situation where a woman earns more than her husband. Still, he maintains that provision remains a personal obligation.
“I am not against equality or a woman being richer than me,” he said.
“But if my wife had an estate, I would still prefer us living in the house I built, pay the children’s school fees and buy foodstuffs.”
For the actor, providing shelter and meeting essential family needs is not about competition or control, but about responsibility and fulfillment.
His remarks underscore his belief in maintaining a sense of duty and leadership in marriage, even in an era where traditional and modern roles continue to intersect.
