“Men Must Share Chores”-
Teniola Calls for Equal Home Responsibilities

OpenLife Nigeria reports that Nollywood actress Teniola Aladese is reigniting conversations about gender and chores, questioning why domestic work is still seen as a woman’s responsibility.

On a recent podcast, Aladese called out the persistent imbalance in homes.

“Why can’t a man wash the dishes? Why do we continue to uphold these gender stereotypes?” she asked.

“Women cook, clean, wash plates, while men just focus on work. But women also work. We hustle just like them.”

She described the toll this inequality takes on women.

“Why is it that as soon as we get home, it’s the woman who has to do everything cook, clean, wash… it’s exhausting!”
Aladese argued that societal changes demand a rethink.

“Our mothers may have handled it, but things are different now. Both men and women work. So why can’t men pitch in with chores?”

She also rejected the idea that helping around the house diminishes masculinity.

“It’s not about being less of a man; it’s about partnership. These stereotypes need to stop,” she stressed.

Concluding with a call to action, she said, “Women are tired. We work too. Let’s share the load.”

Her statements have reignited debate about equality at home, shared responsibilities, and reshaping traditional gender roles in modern relationships.
