Geh Geh Claims Grammy Uses Davido To Promote Awards In Africa

OpenLife Nigeria‘ reports that social commentator Geh Geh has strongly criticized the Grammy Awards, claiming that Afrobeats star Davido has been “disrespected” despite repeated nominations.

Geh Geh argued that the awards body is leveraging Davido’s popularity to market the Grammys in Africa rather than genuinely recognizing his work.

In a viral video, Geh Geh said:

In 2026, you allow Grammy dey rubbish you. Them don rubbish you, you no get value again.

“I remember when I made a video to advice Davido make e no dey submit him songs to Grammy. These people are using you to promote their award in Nigeria and Africa.”

He also commented on Davido’s determination to win:

“But him just dey shout say ‘I want to win Grammy’ go and win Grammy na. Wizkid go dey happy now.”
Geh Geh added a reflection on how recognition can be misleading;

This life wey we dey live eh, know where you stand for people life. You fit dey think say you be something for person life, make that person no rate you at all. Na that thing na him Grammy dey do Davido.

“Grammy know say dey can never give Davido that award but because them still need am to promote and market their award for Nigeria and Africa, na the only reason dey dey nominate Davido.”

The remarks follow Davido’s loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards, sparking renewed debate online about whether the Grammys genuinely value African artists or are using their influence for global marketing.
