War In Nollywood: Regina Chukwu Blasts Kunle Afolayan Over Funke Akindele’s Success Criticism

War In Nollywood

OpenLife Nigeria reports that Nollywood actress Regina Chukwu has joined the conversation surrounding the ongoing controversy between her fellow actors Kunle Afolayan and Funke Akindele.

The controversy began at the premiere of Afolayan’s latest movie, where he revealed that he is not interested in cinema earnings of ₦1 billion or ₦2 billion if he cannot personally take home at least ₦10 million.

He also criticized colleagues who “constantly dance” to promote their films, sparking speculation that his comments were indirectly directed at Akindele, whose recent project grossed ₦2.4 billion, while Toyin Abraham’s movie hit the ₦1 billion mark.

Funke Akindele responded gracefully, making it clear that she is not a barrier to Afolayan’s success.

She urged him not to let jealousy consume him, reminding the industry that “the sky is so big for everybody to fly.”

In a playful nod to her movie promotions, Akindele also shared a video of herself dancing in celebration of her highest-grossing film.

Further emphasizing the need for professionalism and mutual respect, Regina Chukwu weighed in on the situation, sharing an inspirational message on Instagram:

“N5 billion
N1 billion
Life is turn by turn
The dancer, the boaster, the comedian.
Everybody will be alright in this industry.
Do the one you can do without shading anyone.”

Regina Chukwu’s commentary on the feud highlights the broader conversation about collaboration and competition in Nollywood.

Her perspective reinforces the idea that success in the industry is cyclical and that personal growth should not come at the expense of disparaging others.

As the industry continues to evolve, this episode serves as a reminder that while box office numbers may make headlines, respect and professionalism remain the true currency among peers.
