Kebbi State Government
OpenLife Nigeria reports that arising from what seemed contrasting statements on the Bagudo Hospital incidence early Tuesday, Kebbi State Government has issued further clarification regarding the incident following public concerns and misleading reports suggesting that the incident was a bomb blast.
This clarification is in addition to the earlier press release issued on the incident.
Speaking on behalf of the Kebbi State Government, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, clarified that while an explosion did occur, it was not the result of a bomb blast.
According to him, investigations revealed that the incident was caused by a fire outbreak in a residential building located within the hospital premises, during which a gas cylinder exploded, producing a loud noise that triggered a public panic.
He further disclosed that joint intelligence findings by the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) confirmed that there was no bomb, no terrorist activity , and no external attack involved in the incident.

Fortunately, no lives ware lost, although properties belonging to the occupants of the affected house were damaged by the fire.
Corroborating this position, the Kebbi State Police Command, through its Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) unit and other tactical teams, confirmed that the explosion resulted from an inferno that overheated gas cylinders, including those from household appliances, leading to the loud sound heard in the area.
The Police also categorically debunked claims of helicopter involvement or explosive devices, describing such reports as false and unfounded.
While appreciating the role of the media in information dissemination, the State Government strongly urges both conventional and social media platforms to uphold professionalism by verifying facts, and relying on official sources before publishing sensitive security-related information.

Reaffirming the commitment of His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu) to the protection of lives and property, the SSG disclosed that the Governor promptly directed the State Emergency Relief Agency (SEMA) and the Ministry of Health to visit the scene, assess the situation, and provide relief support to the affected occupants.
The Kebbi State Government assures residents that the situation is fully under control, and that there is no security threat in Bagudo or any part of the state.
