Globus Bank In Trouble Over Alleged Copyright Infringement

OpenLife Nigeria reports that a battle is currently raging between Nigerian famed rock guitarist and singer Fadabasi and Globus Bank.

The musician who popularised the Akwa ibom chant Abasi Ayaiyah noted that he had gone to a branch of Globus bank and heard his song ‘Diamond in the sky’ repeating itself as a welcome song in the security booth.

Baffled, he decided to visit other branches of the bank to record and confirm his findings.

The content of his findings is contained in a youtube post about “the infringement on my right” currently trending.

In the post, he explained that the song Diamond in the sky has been playing in the security doors of Globus bank for God knows how long.

Dem dey use my music …

“Share this till it goes viral.. .I am upset…

“It is an abuse on my intellectual property

“Dem use my music to enhance dem corporate image but dem no pay” he lamented.

Fadabasi is one of the numerous talents under the then wave making stable of Orangootan Records with versatile musician Carl Raccah as producer and Executive producer.

Orangootan aside Fadabasi also released other albums of Ashionye, Ohun, Peace Joseph, Timmy and….

The label also spearheaded the Girl Power concerts.

For your information; the Fadabasi album titled Jowo contained six tracks including original love, there’s a reason, e no easy, Diamond in the sky and Ayaiyah.

Note worthy is that Fadabasi wrote all the songs in the Jowo album except track 5, the bone of contention; Diamond in the sky which he co- wrote with Carl Raccah and Centy Jack Divine Tuburu.

The youtube post was silent on whether the artiste was headed to seek justice.

Just as there is no official response from Globus Bank.
