Bode George Queries Nyesom Wike
OpenLife Nigeria reports that a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olabode George, has queried the statement credited to former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike.
A statement was credited to have been made by Wike to the effect that he sought the permission of some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, before accepting the ministerial offer from President Bola Tinubu.
Wike who responded to the criticisms at his first press briefing as a minister explained that before accepting the ministerial appointment, he wrote letters to Acting National Chairman of PDP, Umar Damagun.
He said all the leaders of the PDP which he sought their permission responded by granting him the permission to accept the ministerial offer.
But reacting on Thursday afternoon on Arise TV, Bode Goerge, 77 who became a Commodore in the Nigerian navy and was appointed Military Governor of Ondo State between 1988 and 1990, said he was not aware of the written permission of Nyesom Wike.
He requested a proof of evidence of the written permission and approval from the PDP hierarchy from Nyesom Wike.
“If he said he wrote a letter, did they ask him to go ahead? I don’t know anything about permission, ” the former PDP deputy national chairman, South, stated, stressing further that proof of evidence is important in such matter.
