Obaseki Sponsors Edo FEWMA Workers On Erosion Control Study Tour
OpenLife Nigeria reports that the Edo State Flood Erosion and Watershed Management Agency (Edo FEWMA) is organizing a technical workshop and study tour for the staff of the agency to build internal capacity for its engineering design capabilities aimed at accelerating the process of interventions in flood control and erosion management in the state.
The technical team of Edo FEWMA, led by the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Tom Obaseki, arrived in Cape Town, South Africa, on Tuesday, for a technical workshop and study tour at ZutariPyt Limited, South Africa.
In a statement, Dr, Tom Obaseki, said the study tour to ZutariPyt Ltd, a leading engineering design firm in Africa, is in line with the vision of Governor Godwin Obaseki to build a well-trained manpower base for optimum service delivery to the people of Edo State.
The Edo FEWMA CEO, noted, “This Workshop and Study Tour will help build internal capacity for the Agency. This is coupled with our engineering design center, which is the most equipped in Nigeria. It will further position Edo FEWMA as the most equipped in both infrastructure and human capacity in the field of engineering design by any government, State or Federal in Nigeria.”
On his part, Fareed Nagdi, Director of Operations at ZutariPty Limited, said, “We are pleased to be hosting Edo FEWMA today in continuation of the long-standing relationship with the Edo State Government that started over 14 years ago and all through the World Bank-assisted project NEWMAP.

The technical workshop and study tour will involve visits to landmark sites, design laboratories and in-depth technical training and review sessions.
