The new Commissioner of Police in-charge of Ogun State Police Command, Edgal OLuwole Imohimi has officially resumed duty at the State Police Command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta. The Commissioner who arrived the headquarters at about 11am was received by members of the Ogun State police management team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of operations Department, Edward A. Ajogun.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the CP in his maiden address to the management team, directed that all policemen serving in Ogun State should return to their duty post from wherever they maybe as there is going to be physical head count of all the personnel attached to the Command.
He also ordered
the cancellation of all forms of leave be it casual or annual leave, except
in emergencies, because all hands must be on deck to checkmate the
activities of hoodlums especially during the ember months and yuletide season. The CP
promised to deepen and institutionalize the strategy of community policing and
community safety partnership to reduce crime in Ogun, in line with the
objectives of operation puff-Adder.
On August 30, 2017, Edgar Imohimi was appointed
Commissioner of Police in-charge of the Lagos State Command.
The appointment followed his promotion by the
Police Service Commission (PSC) from Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, in
charge of Operations, in Lagos State to full Commissioner rank. He succeeded Commissioner Fatai Owoseni in Lagos State
A
1984 graduate of Art of the University of Jos, Edgar was enlisted into the Nigeria Police
Force, as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, on February 2, 1986. He served
in various commands and formations within the country in several capacities,
spending most of his days at the Lagos State Police Command. He
went on to bag a master degree in Public and International Affairs at the
University of Lagos in 2004. Edgar is highly trained on Community and
Intelligence Gathering Policing; he organised the first Community Policing
summits in Ikeja GRA, Lagos State.
He has served as the Divisional Police Officer
of Shomolu Police Division, Seme Police Division, Ikeja and Surulere Police
Divisions, between the year 2003 and 2011, as a Chief Superintendent of Police,
CSP, before he was promoted and appointed the Assistant Commissioner of Police,
ACP, in-charge-of the Area A, Command, Lagos.
