The Place Of Diasporas In Our Government If Elected
OpenLife Nigeria reports that Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, has stylishly unveiled his plans to work with Nigerians abroad if he is elected as the president of the global most populous black country.
This disclosure was highlighted as part of his sensitization itinerary across Continents to intimate Nigerians abroad of his cardinal objectives.
According to the former governor of Anambra State, remittance of Nigerians in the diaspora forms a reasonable chunk of the country’s aggregate assets.
He added that if properly harnessed into the fabrics of his proposed government, they would contribute hugely to the needed technical knowledge transfer.
Obi further noted that beyond their well-known role as senders of remittances, diasporas can promote trade and foreign direct investment, create businesses and spur entrepreneurship, and transfer new knowledge and skills.
Obi wrote:
“En route to the U.S.A, I’ll make a pit stop in Germany to interact with Nigerians in Germany.
I hold Nigerians in Diaspora in very high esteem; they represent the core of our human development capital and contribute immensely to nation building via remittances and technical knowledge transfer.
My present outing will take me to Germany, Italy, Canada & the U.S.A. I look forward to the very constructive engagements.”
