OpenLife Nigeria reports that barely four months to the 2023 presidential election, President Muhammadu Buhari has tactically begun working against Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Buhari demonstrated this on Wednesday when he cautioned cabinet ministers and other top government functionaries from getting involved in the campaigns for Tinubu.
He stressed that anyone caught indulging in partisan campaigns would face the full weight of law.
This presidential order has technically punctured Tinubu’s campaign machinery which already has ministers in the campaign team.
A public affairs analyst who spoke to OpenLife Wednesday night maintained that it was a clear presidential plot against Tinubu.
“President Buhari is the head of Tinubu’s campaign team. If he is withdrawing his ministers on the grounds that they must concentrate their time and energy on administrative duties for the remaining period of this administration, he is also indirectly withdrawing from the campaign activities. That leaves Tinubu in a very tight situation. It portrays wide cracks on the APC presidential election walls,” he submitted.
The 2023 presidential election is scheduled for February 25, 2023.
