OpenLife News reports that the Nigerian Senate has commenced its annual legislative two-month recess.
The Senate under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio adjourned plenary sessions today, Friday, July 24.
The Senate is expected to reconvene on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
The lawmakers are scheduled to use the period of the annual recess to carry out constituency work and committee oversights.
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio made the announcement during plenary on Thursday, July 23.
He directed ad hoc and standing committees to continue their work during the break and encouraged senators to use the period to finalise pending reports and carry out oversight duties.
The annual recess is a mandatory legislative calendar, officially observed in order to commence the full fledged legislative year.
This annual recess serves as the last calendar year of the 10th National Assembly.
